Stephen Fielding

Stephen Fielding read law at Christ Church, Oxford and was called to the Bar in 1974, starting in chambers at 3 New Square Lincoln’s Inn (now Wilberforce Chambers). He has held legal advisory roles at the Building Societies Association and Midland Bank. He was a director of Midland Bank Trust Company and helped set up Midland Bank’s Asset Management Business of which he was deputy chief executive from 1989.

For 10 years from 1993 he was head of financial services, partner and then Client Group Head at private bankers Coutts & Co. He is a qualified banker and investment adviser and has professional expertise across the range of private banking and financial services disciplines, including deposit taking, lending and investment management. He is the coauthor of Truth in Lending, a working guide to the Consumer Credit Act 1974, published by Waterlow.

He is a CEDR accredited mediator and has mediated in a wide variety of disputes including professional negligence, commercial, pensions, property, banking, IT, personal injury and probate cases. He has written a number of articles on mediation which can be accessed on his website www.stephenfielding.com.

He is the non-executive chairman of award-winning City PR firm Lehmann Communications Plc and vice chairman of the national children’s charity the Buttle Trust. He is a French and Italian speaker, is married with four children and enjoys music and cricket.
